A Destination Wedding in Byron Bay

Tiff + Terepai chose the perfect location for their three days of wedding bliss; the beautiful Byron Bay. Sun, surf, crystals, tipis… drumming and dancing, feasts and ferns… laughter, love and the moon.

We joined Terepai, his oldest son Tainui and their mates on an early morning surf; visited the healing surrounds of Crystal Castle with Tiff, her besties and her adorable little gentlemen Rocket and Fin; partied and soaked in the sun throughout the wedding day at the stunning The Grove Byron Bay; and relaxed at a chilled recovery breakfast at Secret Garden the following morning.

The wedding celebrated their diverse heritage with a special Polynesian ceremony performed by Terepai’s mum, sister and Aunts, laying brightly-coloured traditional linens around the embracing family. After a sun-kissed golden hour portrait session with the beautiful couple, everyone ate, drank and danced into the night (with special drumming solos from Terepai and little rockstar Fin).

We were absolutely honoured to have been part of it, and to have had the chance to meet so many incredible, fun and talented people along the way.

Lucy has an incredible knack for capturing moments. And similarly is incredible at her craft. Whilst weaving through the proceedings completely unnoticed, moments materialised from her exquisite eye for magic and joy. Her composition is contemporary yet the shots look classic and cool. She’s a consummate professional and at the same time just felt like one of our friends, hanging out. The finished album is a work of art and something we’ll cherish forever.

Alastair’s wedding film literally had our whole family in tears. His ability to capture the essence of our wedding teamed with his creativity and grasp of this medium made for an incredibly precious collection of memories we’re so, so glad we have!

As the day really did fly by, our pictures and film are the one thing that we’ll have forever, to look back on and relive those moments through. Alongside pretty much every person who’s seen our pictures — and shaken their head in disbelief of how they could be so beautiful — we couldn’t recommend a wedding photographer more highly than Lucy.
